Awful company
After 7 long months of dealing with several people at BC/BS, I have come to the conclusion they are just about worthless as a provider anymore. It didn't use to be the case. Let me start tell my story. My wife gave birth to our son on 6/5/2008 through C-section in the Philippines. She encountered several infections and complications and remained in the hospital for 3 weeks. I was there, everytime they removed her bandage it was saturated with blood. You see her sister died from leukimia, and she did and remained to have a high white blood count. BC did a wonderful job and paid this and others after that too when she had complications from excessive bleeding. But then when she went in again on 9/13/08 to 9/15/2008 also having complications. Well, I have provided itemized daily bills, a hematology and lab reports and what the Philippines calls a medical certificate when she was discharged. Unfortunately, I always have a hard time getting medical records in the Philippines. For that matter, I had a difficult getting medical records from doctors in the states too. After getting off the phone from a Ms. Price at Blue Cross (not sure where they find this cold hearted girls at) she just about called me a liar stating that their are more medical records and sometimes unnecessary procedures are done. You should have seen the itemized daily bill I submitted; although it was one page it is very detailed. I didn't appreciate her attitude and seriously considering other alternatives for my health insurance. For all overseas Govt people you might want to check out Foreign Service Benefit Plan.
