Overdraft Fees
I have read all over the internet about similar complaints to the one I have. I had money in my account and used my debit card, come to find out three days later and four overdrafts that "supposedly" there was no funds available. I know in my mind and heart that there was money because there had been a direct deposit and two cash deposits so there was enough for all the transactions to clear and still be very little wiggle room left over. I have tried to close my account, I was lied to several times by many associates that they would refund the fees. However, I have yet to see the refunds and the fees keep climbing. I HATE this bank, I regret the day I ever gave them my business. The problem here is not that I cannot manage my money, but that the online statements are decieving. It shows money in your account and even if you personally keep a running tally of what you know you have and have used they somehow to their profit make it so it isn't so. The problem is, they keep getting bigger and bigger and they will eventually get so big they won't care about the bottom line which is supposed to be their customers. To all my fellow "overdrafters without recourse" I feel your pain as do many others.

False Overdraft fees
On June 11, 2008 I was charged for four overdraft fees. My checkbook register and the on-line statement provided by B of A agreed. However; the on-line statement the bank actually uses disagreed by $44.33 I contacted BofA and asked for an explanation of the disagreement. The rep and eventually the supervisor I spoke with could not provide an explanation. All they could keep saying is that I made a mistake in my register. Ok, but how did I make a mistake with their on-line statement? They/she refused to refund the fees. As a result I am unable to get medicine for my diabetes or the appropriate groceries for my condition. Instead the money I have coming in goes to their fees. It is their mistake. In my opinion I believe they (BofA) manipulate the accounts that are getting low to accomplish the gaining of fees.

CD Renewal
We had a CD with Bank of America that apparently was scheduled for roll-over the first week of June, 2009. No notification was sent until 05-0-29-08 when we were out of town. I called the officers telling them that less than two week notice of renewal was not standard, especially since the rate of return offered was considerably lower than comparable banks. The bank officials I spoke with were completely inflexible despite their agreement that the usual time of notice was at least twenty days. The penalty to terminate the CD would offset any gains in placing the money in another bank. I will NEVER deal with Bank of America again.

Rip off
Bank of America runs a scandalous business based on fraud, theft, and greed. Yesterday I checked my account being that payday is literally around the corner. Shock, awe, and surprise do not even begin to describe what I felt when I saw my account was overdrawn by $219.95. On April 30, my paycheck was directly deposited into my account. So far, it's all copacetic. On May 1, I make 2 purchases and a withdrawal. One of my purchases came with a $35 overdraft fee. On the same day I paid 3 bills online. Now I am aware of how this works. The payments don't always go through at the time you make them so I did what everyone does... leave the money alone. On May 2, all my payments went through along with a $35 overdraft fee on each. How do I go from having $400 in the bank to being overdrawn by $219.95? The bills I paid only amounted to around $200. So let's do the math.
Yesterday after work I went into a Bank of America Branch. I spoke to someone who obviously did not know what she was talking about. I was told that it is Bank of America's new policy to charge overdraft fees on pending transactions. So even though at the ATM the receipt stated that I had funds available, B of A still hadn't processed my direct deposit. All of this makes no kind of sense to me. How come I was able to withdraw $40 from the ATM if there were no funds available? How was I able to get gas if there were no funds available? How was I able to get my morning coffee and bagel if there were no funds available? By the way, I was charged a $35 overdraft fee on a $3.54 purchase at Safeway.
I am a poor, single working mom trying to keep a roof over my family's head and food on the table. How do you explain to a seven year old you're sorry but those new shoes they need just aren't going to happen or that the fridge is empty because B of A took literally half my paycheck in overdraft fees? To say that I am angry, furious, livid, again, is an understatement. Bank of America took food out of my child's mouth and I am enraged. Today I am going back to the bank and speak to the Branch Manager and let them know that they stole my money and they will be putting it back into my account immediately and I will be using every outlet to let the public know what they have done. If I had done this to someone, I would be behind bars.

credit card interst rate
Sudden increase in interst rate from 7.9% to 29.5% Based on two instances.
Bank of America claimed I made a late payment, Although it was made on the due date at a BOA branch. Bank claims it is not the due date that counts, of course, but the date transaction is recorded. That as I am sure you've heard before is down right sleazy.
Made a payment 4 days ahead of due date.
I did not have bill with me so I guessed at amount due. I underestimated by $3.00.
they recorded payment as not made.
As a result of the banks action my monthly payment will be more than I can pay, thus throwing my credit rating down the tube.
What purpose can that possibly serve?
I have to assume that either the BOA is either very dumb or very callous. I think both. Regardless, it is my understanding that I have to notify FIA card services that I refuse to accept this vindictive interest rate.

Rip off
FIA CARDSERVICES, owned by Bank of America. STEALING!!! Autopay on closed account. When you take something that doesn't belong to you that is called STEALING!!! "If it walks like a duck & quacks like a duck it is FIA CARDSERCVICES STEALING FROM A CLOSED ACCOUNT WITH A ZERO BALANCE!!!
Paid Balance to zero on 5/13/08 and allowed payment to clear; closed account afterwards via phone and got a letter stating account was closed. On June 3, 2008 -- FIA CARDSERVICES did an autopayment on a closed account with a zero balance. The rep told me they could send me in check in a few days. She said it was my fault because I didn't go into the CLOSED ACCOUNT online and undo the AUTOPAY. I asked if AUTOPAY was another company, she said no. I asked then why couldn't one call close one account and all that is on it? She said it all depends... and went on and on with a litany of possibilities -- AND NONE OF THOSE POSSIBILITIES included "reversing the erroneous payment." I have to wait and get my money in check form though they got theirs in immediate electronic form. My bank had me to fax a form from their site and they reversed the charge and put the money back into my account. But that leaves next month. Oh yes, 60 days after closing the account the autopay will take my money. THAT'S STEALING!!!
CITI BANK did the exact same thing but they didn't bother to tell me about canceling autopay separately. The check took seven days to get to me. I am disabled, on limited income and was about to buy groceries when I thought to check my balance. I AM LAUNCHING A NATIONAL CAMPAIGN TO HAVE THE AUTOPAY STOPPED WHEN THE ACCOUNT IS CLOSED, especially if the balance is ZERO.

Overdraft fees
I have been banking with bank of America for the past 10 years. The customer service has steadily declined over the past year. The reps on the phone are very rude. This week, I found out they sent out a notice with statements a few months ago, regarding changes to their over draft and pending transaction policies. However, I had chosen their "paperless" option and do all my banking online. Since I did not receive this notice, I have $315.00 of over draft fees. I still am not sure how this new policy works and why I have all those fees. When I ask them to explain it, they act like i am stupid and are rude. I have completely lost their trust. My assistant at work, did not get the notice either and she accrued $245.00 in over draft fees. They act like we should have known about the change despite not receiving the memo.
