Dishonest Business Conducts
OK, you have got your wishes - cancellation of your license with DOT.
Too bad, DOT didn't act soon enough to protect people from being lied and cheated by you.
Shamed on you, go get a real job or go back to where you belong - the hell. Our society will not tolerate the scum like you.
Have a nice trip to hell.

Damages and Over-charges
I paid Authorized Movers to move my furniture from CA to DE in September of 2008. They were paid in full, even though the amount they charged was way higher than my original estimate from them. They were also hired to move my car. In order to take delivery of the car in DE, I had to give the driver a cashier’s check for $938. A few days later, I found a charge for this same amount on my credit card statement. Not only had I paid them in cash, but they also charged my card, so I paid twice! When I tried to contact them about this mistake, I was told that the person who reserved my car move did not exist! I left several messages for the person who handled my household move, to see if maybe she could help me. She never returned any calls. Whenever I called, I was told she was away from her desk and placed into voice mail. I eventually disputed the charge with my credit card company, Bank of America, and the charge was reversed.
In February of 2009, I received a call from Lee Alan Reed and Assoc. in Tampa, FL, stating that Authorized Movers had given my account over to them for collection! I told them I had proof that I paid them and faxed over all documents. They verified the documents were received so I thought it was over. In April, I received another call from the collection agency stating that if I didn’t pay them by April 7, 2009, Authorized Movers was going to take me to court and have a judgement placed on my credit file. If I didn’t pay them, I’d have to get a lawyer and appear in court in FL. Since I live in VA, (I moved AGAIN in Jan. for a job, but did NOT use Authorized Movers!) it would be a huge inconvenience, as well as a huge expense. Since I know how badly a judgement can look on a credit file, I felt forced to pay them. It would have cost me more to get an attorney and fly to FL that it did to just give in and pay the money. It’s bad enough that there’s a collection account on my file, let alone a judgement.
I made a huge mistake in choosing this company! Since last fall, I have found numerous complaints similar to mine, and some even worse! I wish I would have read these last Fall!
In addition, I am filing a complaint against Authorized Movers with the FL State Attorney General’s Office. (Filing two complaints against them with the Better Business Bureau did no good.) If other people who have these similar experiences file a report with the FL Attorney General's office, they will have to do something. Reports can be filed on-line. Please help me stop Authorized Movers from doing this to others!

They did not Pick up as they said they would
I filed this with the BBB in Florida. Authorized Movers has lied. My dates were change by them, they did not notify that I would not be picked up on 3 August, nor did they call me to tell me that there was anyone coming all the way from Florida...that makes no sense when fuel prices were so high. The original driver didn't want to come down from North Texas, why would anyone drive from Florida? They may excel at local moves, but long distance contracting is not their game. Scamming is their game. I lost $450 from these folks and I tried to deal with them fairly. Stick to the local, well-known national movers.

Complaint Description - Posted 2/26/2009 8:59:55 AM

Re: w413664 i moved in august 2008. I engaged authorized movers (am) to move me from McAllen Texas to Durham no and made a down payment of $450 by credit card. When the move date got closer, they were unable to find a contractor who would go to south Texas (by the Mexican border) to pick up as fuel expenses were too high to be profitable for a contractor. Raul suggested that i leave a key, and i was not given any other pick up date. Am did not bother to tell me that they were not picking me up on the agreed date, nor did it appear that they would ever find anyone to pick me up and move me in the needed time frame. I told then that i would move with a uhaul myself as i needed to have all my things by 13 august 08, in my time frame. Since then, I’ve made repeated attempts, from polite and patient to angry and hateful, to receive a refund of my $450 deposit. They claim that i canceled them. That is not the case. I had to move on 6 august to be at work on 11 august, they knew this. Nor was leaving a key behind useful as the house was rented again beginning 18 august. There was no choice at my end by to move myself instead of waiting for an indeterminate amount of time for them to pickup. I was also not guaranteed any delivery date either since they could not pickup. In reading the online reviews, i found out that this is not unusual for their business. I would like to have the deposit of $450 refunded to me as soon as possible. I have included the following informatio

Company's Response

According to Our records The customer was informed about delays pertaining to the pick up. The job was on our schedule for 8/06/08. All pick ups have a 3 day window. Obviously we will do our best to pick up on the most desired day by the customer. However jobs that are not with in a 75mile radius from one of our bases need to be picked up by a long distance interstate team either on there way into or out of one of our bases. In this particular case the Dallas office was not able to accommodate the customer . At that point we informed the customer of our difficulties and went about putting together a different team. We spoke with the customer 2 days prior to her requested pick up date(8/4/08) and informed her that there will be a team coming through on a Florida to California rout that is scheduled to get there on Thursday(one day past requested pick up). By the time the customer informed us that she will not be using us The truck reserved for this move had left Florida. The space for the job was reserved and as a result we needed to pay for empty space. All cancelations must be done at least 48 hours in advance and in writing. Due to the fact that this did not happen, the customer had then forfeited there deposit. As for a delivery schedule... We were not able to give the customer a delivery date because The job was not even picked up and the drivers delivery rout was still open. once the jobs are picked up, dispatch goes over the itinerary with the driver and then informs the customer about delivery. Delivery in NC would be determined according to when the driver needed to reload in NY.

Consumer's Rebuttal

Authorized Movers changed my date from 6 August to 3 August because they also had another gentleman that they were picking up for in the Area. That gentleman, According to Raul, was also left without being picked up. Authorized Movers is not telling the whole truth. They called me to move the date up, then, when I waited all day for the movers to arrive, I called Raul who confirmed that the team was not coming and that he did not know when I could get a team, due to the price of fuel. They did not try to find a team for me nor was there one scheduled for 6 August as they had asked me to move my dates to accommodate the other gentleman in the Valley. "The Dallas office was not able to accommodate the customer" clearly indicates that the breach is with Authorized Movers. I agreed to a binding move and Authorized movers breached first. I filed with the US DOT also. I would like Authorized Movers to lose their licensing; however, in the interim, I would like to have Authorized Movers refund my $450. I am concerned for the other customers who use Authorized Movers and am thinking of a class action suit, which should be viable.

Company's Final Response

Company's Final Response - Posted 03/03/2009
Yes price of fuel had made the profit margin an issue... However the work to find an agent to pick this job up was still made. and eventually some one was found. Were the team was based should not be an issue on the job as far as the customers concern. The issue we had was even though the date was changed, the customer was still informed and didn't inform us until a crew was all ready on its way. Space reservation is a very important part of the transportation business. space is paid for on trucks whether it is used or not. If the customer would have informed us of his change of plans before we paid for the space his job would take on the truck there would have been no issue. we have a policy of no job no deposit kept that has been in affect for the past 6 months. In this case the company was made to be significantly out of pocket due to the space saved on the truck for this job. This is why they are not refunding the money.

Delivery
Don't use Authorized Movers! Stay away from them! They picked up in Orlando, FL 9/4/08 but didn't deliver to PA until 10/27/08 even though my requested delivery dates of 9/8/00 - 9/12/08 were listed on their web site! Also reps and truck driver all assured me that my requested delivery dates should be no problem. Despiste numerous calls to I don't know how many different reps, dispatch people and managers, no one would call back or give any info on a firm delivery date after my last requested date passed. Got several "oh, it'll be there on this date or that" but nothing happened. A lot of calls were put on hold and finally just hung up on me also. This is a very disorganized company, no one seems to know what's going on. After writing complaints to the BBB and other agencies, I was finally notified that the truck with my items would be leaving FL in late Oct.! No explaination of why my things were still in FL or where they had been (one rep did state once that they coldn't deliver a week earlier because of the "holidays"). Yes, they finally did give a discount (even to what they overcharged during pick-up though) but then they added a charge during delivery because they said their truck wouldn't fit into the street behind my apt. building although locals there said that it was possible. (The drivers insisted on cash so they left because I didn't have enough cash on hand and threated to charge more money on redelivery but that was straightened out on the same day. I just wanted to get rid of them and get my things.) Some of my boxes were wet on the bottoms so therefore my lines, sheets, blankets are now moldy smelling. Again no explaination of how this happened. I'm sure they won't pay anything on this either. Please stay away from this company! I certainly wish I had gone with anyone else.

SCAM ALERT
We advise everyone not to deal with this company. Not only is the customer service center a joke the sales people you intially come in contact with suddenly cease to exist on follow up calls.
We were lucky enough to figure this place out before allowing them to come and pick up anything. I read all the complaints online and checked them out with the better business burea.
The rep we were give told us a driver was going to call us .. the day before our deadline pick up date we heard from no one... I called and got the run around . Was told there was no driver then they would come today ect ect ect .I called and cancelled the pick up and delivery. We will see how that goes .

Please do not use this company.

NO CUSTOMER SERVICE VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!
I was a caretaker for a disabled 88 year old man for the last five years. He decided to move to CA from VA to live with his daughter. A family member of his selected Authorized Movers based on the quote that was received for his one bedroom apartment it was a great deal cheaper than other quotes that were given. He was leaving most of his large furniture and mostly had boxes and a few larger items to move to CA. The customer service rep. named Michael was extremely helpful getting things set up and organized for the move. We paid the reservation fee of $150.00 and an $18.00 processing fee (that we were not told about) up front at the time of reservation.

We were given a three day window of when his things would be picked up, they arrived within their time frame on the day that they said they would. But to our dismay they said they were unable to get their 18 wheeler into the apartment complex and they would have to get a smaller truck and load his things into a smaller truck and then put them into the big truck. This is what they consider a "shuttle service" it cost an additional $250 for the moving truck and then they charged an hourly rate of $110.00 since they had to move his things twice. They drove in from New York the truck said EAGLE VAN LINES so of course they couldn't arrange to use a smaller truck. Anyone that has ever rented a small truck for in town moving knows that it doesn't cost $250 to rent a truck which ironically was less than a block from his apartment. We had no choice so we agreed to the "shuttle service". They had charged his card the night previously when they called to let us know when they were coming ($650.00) which was 10% of the total estimate cost, and then at pick up the driver tried to collect another $650! He had to call the company to confirm that it was paid even after I showed him the e-mailed receipt. We were flying into CA on September 9 and told him the first day that we would be available to have the things delivered would be the 10th. Of course we booked all flights according to the original quoted delivery time frame. I double checked on the delivery time frame noticing only after that the contract quoted up to 21 days for a move of this distance, the driver then said it won't be a problem getting his things there in about a week.

I flew with him to help and had only planned on staying in CA for a week, but my week long trip turned into 20 days. We had planned everything including his daughter taking him off from her job to help the movers and get him all settled in. I called almost daily got the run around from everyone, I was accused of "harrasing" and "cussing" when I was NEVER disrespectful or cussed and trust me I wanted to. Most of the individuals couldn't give any answers at all and transfered me to a bunch of different people or voicemail boxes. Most of the people I talked to didn't speak very good english, & were hard to understand. Even the so called "managers" didn't have answers everyone kept telling me that it was impossible to have his things delivered in 7 days & that the contract clearly states 21 days. These people tell you what you want to hear to make you happy or get the contract, but slyly enough all of the details are in the contract that they don't tell you about until later. I was so appalled at how they spoke to me.

The delivery in CA wasn't much better the house had a steep long driveway so of course they couldn't get the truck down the driveway and we refused to pay for another "shuttle service" we ended up bringing the stuff down the driveway on our own loading vehicle's and making trips. They didn't even offer to help us load things, as far as I am concerned we should have charged them a "shuttle service". They called at 8pm on a Saturday to tell us they would be there between 11-3 the next day. They were suppose to give 48 hours notice, they did mention having a cashier's check, money order, or cash and told us the remaining balance which was $1, 038.00 still we were under the understanding that a credit card was also acceptable. When they got there they said they could not unload his things without cash or a money order etc. being that they didn't give proper notice we weren't prepared to have that much cash ready. It was like a mad dash in a poker game we left to hit the ATM and got all of the cash we had together to pay for the balance. At this point we just wanted his things.

The boxes were really beaten up and broken down we were lucky that we only lost a few glasses and a plate. But the thing that really put the icing on the cake was I had packed some canned goods and a three bottles of wine in a divided box that kept them from clanging around and safe and I "stupidly" labeled it canned food and wine and when I opened the box to unpack it the wine was gone! SERIOUSLY HOW LOW CAN YOU GET!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

dishonest practices related to binding estimates
My agreement with Authorized Movers was based on an itemized list of articles to be picked up and an estimated weight. After arriving at my elderly Mothers apt in Arkansas they packed then loaded her furniture onto the truck. They then informed her the estimate was far under the actual weight I had agreed to pay for. The driver then coerced her into signing something he called a binding agreement based on what he could estimate the weight to be. My Mother is ill and hard of hearing and seeing she was not the person who hired the movers I was, and they made no attempt to call me. She was terrified her stuff would be stolen or I would lose my deposit if she did not comply. As soon as they drove away my Mother called me I imediately called Authorized and told them to return the furniture as I could not pay the new price. They refused saying they could not contact the driver. When I was finally able to speak to Issac of Freedom Van Lines he told me he would have the driver verify the weight and call me back. That was yesterday. Today Authorized Movers are telling me I must wait for a call from Freedom V.L and I have no idea where my Mothers things are or if I will ever recieve delivery of them to Fla. I know the original estimated weight is very close to the true weight and I want to pay according to my original agreed upon price plus the cost of packing materials only.

Overcharged
We had along distance move and we got this quote from a company named Authorized Movers for $1800. on the day of the move, they picked up our stuff and i told the guy that the address on the form is not where our stuff will be delivered. he said, "ok, i will cross it out later"... i also told him that i will be calling them as soon as i found another apartment so it means to put the stuff in the storage first because the apartment is not ready! the, he convinced me to go by flat rate of $3000 that way even if our stuff weighs more, we will not be charged extra. he said that flat rate includes everything!

They started transporting our stuff even though there's no definite address yet. then they called me and forcing me to pay for storage or redelivery which is $400 more because the truck is already there. i said 'i will not pay anything for this is not my fault! the pick up guy is the one who screwed up everything!

They told me to call the owner, the customer service and the operations supervisor to explain what happened. talked to the owner himself and i was furious because they want us to pay more and he yelled at me saying "are you going to pay for storage or what?! "you will pay $400 more for redelivery and $75 for stairs and we will take care of storage!"

Just to get our stuff, we paid the remaining balance which was half of the amount and the $475 for redelivery and stairs fee! so, we paid a total of $3475 just because their worker screwed up!

When they delivered our stuff, our furnitures are scratched up, were missing the bolts for our bed frame, were missing the shelves for our entertainment center, power cords for the tv and our 4-in-1 printer is completely broken! we called customer service an nobody's answering our call.

AUTHORIZED MOVER ***! I WILL NEVER EVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYBODY! THERE'S A LOT OF MOVING COMPANIES OUT THERE THAT DO THEIR BUSINESSES WELL.

Delivery
Pick up of items to be moved went ok -- was a day earlier than expected but went well and the movers seemed nice. However am still waiting on delivery of items despite promises of "it'll be there on ... date". Have talked to numerous reps who all promise help but nothing seems to happen and now hang up when called or drop the calls. I would advise to not deal with these people unless you are willing to sleep on bare floor for weeks.
