Hi, I wanted to tell my story about "unlimited" long distance with ATT.

I am a medical transcriptionist working from home. I dial into a hospital in South Boston to transcribe their medical reports.

In order to do my job, I need unlimited long distance service. I chose ATT. That was a mistake. Unlimited long distance with ATT is not really unlimited.

After only of month of service, I was sent a letter stating I was using the "unlimited" long distance inappropriately, and my long distance service would be changed to .10 a minute. I called ATT to find out how I was using their service inappropriately. Their description did not match how I use the service. I informed the representative that no one had contacted me about how the service was being used, and how do they know it is being used inappropriately if no one had ever contacted me. I also asked the representative how my service could be changed without my approval. The representative informed me that they could trace all my calls. I informed her that if they traced my calls they are all going to a hospital in South Boston for which I transcribe. This did not make a difference. I later received a letter thanking me for my recent switch to .10 a minute.

This infuriates me because I work from home in order save a little money as I am a single parent. It will now cost me at least $48 a day to work. At the end of the month this will end up being a very large bill.

Also, I tried to pay my bill. Once by internet. That did not work. Once by check over the phone. That did not work. I called ATT to find out what was going on with my payment as it had never been processed through my bank. I asked the representative if this would effect my service as I need it to work. She told me no. Later, that same day, my long distance was blocked. I could not work. I called once again. I was told that my check over the phone had bounced, and I would be charged a $30 returned check fee. I informed them that was impossible as it had never been through the bank. I was told to fax a detailed copy of my account from my bank with the dates in question in order to prove to them I had the money in the bank, and it was not processed. I did so. One week later, I have not heard a thing. I have called every day. I have been informed that I now have to fax ATT the fax report to prove that I did fax a copy, and another copy of my account details to prove, I guess, that I am right and they are wrong. This is just ridiculous.

My bill is finally paid by credit card. I called to ask that the long distance block be taken off as it had not been lifted and my bill was paid. I was informed it would be lifted within 4 business hours. It did not happen. I called back the next day and was informed the same. Later that day the block was lifted. I can now work again, at .10 a minute..... yah.

I am switching long distance service. The company that I am switching to called ATT to release my number. They would not release my number until I paid the bill that I had been trying to pay, twice. I will finally be rid of service with ATT 11/02/06, but I have a bad feeling this nightmare will go on after my switch.

I think ATT owes me money.!!!!!!!!
