iPhone service
Whoa! Don't buy an iPhone with a new AT&T contract and expect to use it internationally. Turns out that AT&T won't allow you to sign up for international roaming or their World Traveler service for 90 days after the start of the contract! You may get an exception by going through their "fraud department" (they will want you to fax copies of your drivers license and other documents), when I balked at this I was essentially told to go away!
The Apple Store Alderwood her in Washington did not tell me about this restriction when purchasing the iPhone...

Drop Calls / No Bars in More Places
I've been with AT&T for almost 1 year; I was with Sprint / Nextel for almost 9 years. Since I've been with AT&T I have had 5 (that's right Five) phones. All with problems. The first one I bought from a retail store, pulled right out of the box, was a REFURBISHED phone!! The first one kept cutting out and shutting down. Then I was in Atlanta, right downtown and COULD NOT get any signal?!?!? They gave me a new phone. The second phone kept timing me out when emailing pictures. Then I got a third phone (refurbished); that phone was slower than my fax machine! The fourth phone, AT&T customer service recommended the HTC Fuze; very bad choice and a totally worthless phone! Do Not Buy the HTC Fuze!! Then they sent me the Samsung Propel - better phone so far, but not by much. I still get alot of dropped calls, more that Sprint/Nextel and the more bars in more places ad, they must be talking about Las Vegas! That's the only place where there are more bars in more places. I will be cancelling my AT&T Wireless service real soon and going with ANYONE as long as it's not AT&T!

no delivery, no record, 45 minute wait
I called Friday morning September 25th, 2009 to ask what happened to my wife's iphone. We had ordered it over the phone with a real person on Sept. 7th and had to reply Sept. 9th with this email saying we accepted their terms. So we did all the jumping through hoops for them and still no phone. So I call Friday morning and was put on an initial hold, then another, then another. By the time I arrived at work. I had been transferred to four different departments and had no resolve. I told the last rep. "Arianna M. that she had my number and my order number and knew what the problem was so she could take it from here. I told her if she didn't take care of this by the end of the day, I was going to write reports like this one on every review board I could find to warn others not to do business with ATT wireless. She obviously didn't. They are not able to track their own business, the two initial people on the other end of the 1-800 number printed on the confirmation email couldn't even see my order. I think that's an obvious sign not to do business with a company. I have cancelled the order but still have a refund waiting because they have you buy everything up front.

I JUST GOT SCAMMED BY AT&T.COM... I SIGNED UP FOR SERVICE ON AT&T WEBSITE AND WANTED TO SEE HOW THE SERVICE WORKS. I GOT iPHONE REFURBISHED AND IT STATED ON THERE SITE THAT IF I DONT LIKE THE SERVICE I CAN RETURN THE PHONE BUT IF IT IS REFURBISHED I CANT RETURN THE PHONE. WHICH WAS MY MISTAKE THAT I DIDN'T NOTICE THAT BEFORE I SIGNED UP FOR THE PLAN. BUT WHEN I GOT THE PHONE AND DIDNT LIKE THE SERVICE I WENT TO THE AT&T STORE TO CANCEL THE SERVICE I WAS TOLD I CANT CANCEL IT ANYMORE. I HAVE TO USE THE SERVICE FOR 30 FULL DAYS. SO I DID IT NOW WHEN I TRIED TO CANCEL THE SERVICE IM BEING TOLD THAT I WILL BE CHARGED 500 BUCKS CAUSE I WAITED TOO LONG TO DO SO. ALL I CAN THINK OF IS SEND A COMPLAINT TO BBB. AND LET THEM SOLVE THIS. I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS KIND OF BS FROM AT&T. I HAVE BOTH REPS NAME AND ONE WAS THE STORE MANAGER. WHO MENTIONED TO USE THE SERVICE FOR FULL DAYS AND THEN CANCEL THE LINE AND I WONT HAVE TO PAY FOR ANYTHING. JUST THE MINUTES THAT I HAVE USED.

I am disputing this claim that you have on me (Dennis Hagar) for an unpaid wirelees bill. The amount is $419.55. I DO NOT OWE THIS. The account I had was paid in full several years ago and I have since opened a new account with AT&T Wireless about 4 1/2 years ago, that is current and up to date. This belongs to soneone else not me. Please remove this from my credit reports ASAP!!!

Fees
I always wondered why people are always changing their wireless phone services...NOW I KNOW...I asked to have my phones NOT to have any web access from any of my phones in Feb 09...but was never warned about monthly subscriptions, which could have been cancelled at that time...now 5 months later they offer to have them removed...I paid any past due amounts for that period...yet I still get stuck with reinstatment fees...AT&T is nickel and diming me into POVERTY...I look forward to Apr 2010...END OF CONTRACT...GOODBYE AT&T...From a loyal, PAYING customer of over 10 years

I was really not surprised when I saw all the complaints listed. I was with AT&T for numerous years without a problem even when they changed to Cingular, no problems. Then they changed back to AT&T and everything went down hill! My phone messed up (not ringing when someone called, ringing but hanging up when I tried to answer and getting voicemails 1-2 days late) all I wanted was a new phone. I was told I would have to pay between $150-$300 for a phone which is ridiculous. A rep at the store had told me they stopped carrying my phone because of all the problems they had with them and mine was 2 years old! So I call customer service and am told again there was nothing they could do, when I told the girl "then get me someone who can" she said everyone was gonna tell me the same thing...so I figure they are trained to tell us "can't help you" to everything. well to me my phone doesn't work and you won't fix the problem, then I shouldn't have to pay a bill! Now because I wasn't paying they suspend my account, so I can't use my phone that already doesn't work...LOL! BUT are still charging me my month bill!! I again call customer service and Big surprise "we can't help you" so I ask for the Number to the main office but nobody seems to know it out of 5 people I asked noone knew. Then I end up getting a letter from a collection agency for my past due bill. This is the 1st bill collector I actually called now this will tell you how bad AT&T is especially anyone that knows anything about how most bill collectors work (this guy was cool though) I explained to him what the situation was and he agreed with me. I finally got the situation (for the most part) resolved because of help from the collection agency and none whatsoever from AT&T, they could have done the same thing before it went to collections. I was with this company for 6-7 years and in less then a year they completely turned me off from them so I'm glad I didn't sign the new contract!!

The monthly fee for the GPS
I can not believe how greedy you are AT&T, I pay you guys over $3000 a year for our phones, I have the iphone 3G and I was going to get the I phone 3Gs but I have changed my mind and I have made a decision to cancel my service with you. Are you serious? You want me to pay and extra $30/month for an iphone, plus $30 for unlimited texting, (that is a ripoff alone, it uses so little bandwidth for texting) and now you want me to pay $9.95/mo for a simple download for a Tom Tom GPS? I PAY $30/MO FOR MULTI MEDIA, THAT INCLUDES MY GPS TRACKING ALREADY! So basically you want me to pay $9.95/mo for an application. I can see a one-time fee, but per month, what a joke. online cell phone order
I ordered a phone online to upgrade and renew my 2 year contract with AT&T. I ordered the phone on 6/18/2009 and I received a confirmation email saying it would be delivered in 3 to 5 business days. I started calling on Wed, 6/24 to find out the status of my order as the Online Order Status never changed from "in-progress".
6/24 - representative said order looked fine. She called the warehouse to verify that the phone was in stock and said it would be shipped the next day. Didn't receive it.
6/25 - representative said order looked fine. Again they called the warehouse to verify that the phone was in stock and said I should receive it the next day. I asked for a tracking number and realized after I had hung up the phone that the rep had given me my AT&T order number as the tracking number! Again, didn't receive it.
6/26 - 9:30am - representative got a rep from the online department who said they couldn't figure out why my order hadn't shipped and that it looked like the order was stuck. She said everything looked good, the order was still there, the financial authorization looked good, the phone was in stock...etc and that it would take them a couple of hours to figure out what happened. She also said that because of the delay it would be FedEx'd overnight. I asked for a call back and gave the rep my "work number" as the wireless phone I was calling about was my son's phone.
6/26 - 2:30ish - No call back. I called AT&T and they said they had given me a call back on the wireless number I had called about even though I specifically asked them to call me on my work number. So now the rep tells me it has been on backorder even though it has never showed on the Online Order Status as in backorder and the previous two days the rep had verified with the warehouse that the phone was in stock. So I asked to speak with the online dept. The online rep said it showed that it was in a "partial shipping" state and should be shipped by Wed 7/1. I told him that the online rep that morning had told me it would be FedEx'd overnight and he said that they put in the standard shipping code and that I probably wouldn't receive it before Wed.
6/29 2:30 - online rep said that it was on backorder for awhile and that even though it is in stock there were so many orders that they are trying to get them shipped out. She could not give me a timeframe at all on when I would receive it. I told her to please document that if I did not receive the phone by Friday at 5:00 I was switching to Verizon.
Not once was I contacted via email or phone by AT&T to let me know that the phone was on backorder or that there would be a delay on my order.

Dropped Calls
As an Apple user of more than 20 years, I was excited to see Apple's entrance into the wireless market. I switched to AT&T July 2008 when the Apple iPhone 3G came out. The BIGGEST mistake I have ever made. The only reason I switched was to get the Apple iPhone. Verizon was great, I NEVER dropped a call with the exception of the time I was in the middle of the Arizona desert.
To this day, I have never received the rebates promised for my wife and son's phone. (They opted for a Razor and a Shine) We added the high end DSL Service. Road Runner was 8 meg down and 512k up. AT&T was 950k down and 128K up. After a month I canceled and went back to Road Runner. Of course the AT&T Store would not take back my router as it has been more than 30 days.
Dropped calls: For the last 5 years I have traveled all over the country. Verizon was NEVER a problem. I would say I drop 2 to 3 calls a day even with the phone set on 2G. Multiply that by 365 days in a year and you get 730 to 1095 calls dropped in a years time. My wife is a Realtor and she is ready to kill me!! She drops calls on a regular basis as well.
There needs to be a Class Action Lawsuit against AT&T regarding their lack of service and Apple needs to wake up!! I am done with AT&T as of today regardless of the early termination fees.
