AT&T Wireless Reviews

Very Poor Signal
I have had AT&T service for years and it has always been pathetic. I always lose calls, have to use my house phone to make calls, and try many times just to send a simple text message. Not only do I not have barely any service at my house, but I attend a huge college in Blacksburg and have terrible reception there, and I am currently living in Richmond (the state capitol) and I have terrible reception there, at average a bar or two if any sometimes. I believe it is absolutely ridiculous that Verizon customers have service in the many places that I do not. I think it is crazy that AT&T has terrible reception in the state capitol where I am at and at one of the biggest colleges in the United States. I would switch from AT&T in a heartbeat if I wasn't on my family's plan. It isn't worth the crazy amount that AT&T charges for such terrible reception. I do not even know how this phone company exist or why anybody would get a cell phone that has such bad reception in such heavily populated areas. It makes absolutely no sense and I could not be any more dissatisfied at this moment.

Data Plan
I currently have four phones on my cell account with At&t, my two children, my husband, and myself. My daughter worked for the NCAA during the tournament and as a bonus, they were given LG Expo phones. I went into an At&t store with her to get her phone activated and we were not told anything about smart phones and data plans. I received my cell bill a couple of days ago and it had large charges for prorated data plan and the next month full data plan. At&t refused to remove the charges because the rep I spoke with said I am required to have a data plan and it was added to my account. I was never notified, I never gave consent, I was never told anything. At&t also offers cheaper data plans, but they chose to give me the highest data plan they have. I do not understand how anyone can simply add something to someones acct without notification, nor do I understand how you can required a person to have something they do not want. I currently have 2 blackberry's and I have not data plan on them. It is possible to have smart phones and not have a data plan. If that is what the customer wants, who or what gives At&t the right to change what the customer wants and is paying for? I have contacted the FCC and hopefully this will be resolved fairly quick.

Unwanted servcie features
Have been a customer of AT&T for 6 years. Have bought a couple of phones from ebay and now am being charged for features I don't want based upon the fact that I bought a smartphone on ebay and inserted my own sim card into it. I'm getting different answers from different customer service reps. They are not consistent and are trying to extort $30.00 for features I do not want, didn't sign up for, and don't need!

No network coverage
Why can't I get bars in Houstons Bush airport? Why can't I get bars in Houstons Methodist Hospital? Why when sitting in my home does my phone beep from time to time and when I look to see what is wrong it is telling me that there are NO BARS. We came to AT&T for the roll over minuets but they are not to much good when you can't use them. When we had Verizon we had better coverage than we do at AT&T. We were on vacation not long ago and a voice mail was posted on our phone as being sent 2 days before it got to our phone. We will more than likely go back to Verizon at contract time.

They are the worst company by far!
I have had my cell phone for over a year and decided to upgrade.

I like most have a busy schedule and find that online shopping is the most convenient way for me to do business. I purchased a phone and when I received it it started immediately disconnecting calls, the phone would automatically shut off and just stopped turning on all together. called the customer service department at AT&T. I was told that they could ship me a replacement phone but I would be charged another $100 (the cost of the original phone) and would be refunded after they received the defective phone??!!! WHAT!! I already paid for a phone and it doesn't work why do I have to dish out another $100?? I spoke with a less than helpful customer service representative at e-commerce (the department within AT&T that deals with these things) who told me I did have the option of going to any AT&T store to replace the phone if I didn’t want to be recharged. I opted for the less expensive route but far more inconvenient option. The first store couldn't exchange my phone because they weren’t a corporate store?? no one told me there was a difference...I then went to a corporate store in Millbury MA where the girl couldn’t have cared less. She told me they couldn’t exchange the phone because the model I purchased wasn’t sold in stores (she is incorrect.) they also wouldn’t take my phone back because they can’t do that?? I called back to customer service and while the woman I spoke with was very nice the supervisors wouldn’t budge on the charges to send me a replacement phone. Today I called another AT&T store to find out if they had the phone in stock they told me that model was defective and no longer being released??!! So I went to another AT&T store to see if they had it…they sell it but it wasn’t in stock. They could only trade my phone for the same model (again never told to me) and if I wanted a different model phone I would be charged and then I would get a refund once my old phone was returned.

I just mailed the phone back and am waiting for a refund. I'm waiting until my contract is up and I'm switching back to Verizon Wireless where I was before.

I had left AT&T before for their horrible customer service but because my husband has been with them I went back to make things easier. YA RIGHT!! they are the worst company by far!! Never again will I do any business with this company!

Do not go with AT&T Wireless, you will have major problems
AT&T has horrible 3G service in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. I have a new Blackberry phone and experience static and crackling in the line when I make a call, I am constantly having dropped calls, there is choppiness even when I have full strength, there are many voicemails and text messages I don't receive, there are many areas of poor reception, and the 3G network goes down quite frequently. Their network is very unreliable. Customer service does not help. I've called them numerous times, but nothing is ever done to fix the problems in this area. They need to switch Cincinnati over to 850 MHZ. Do not go with AT&T Wireless, you will have major problems.

I can't wait until I can rid of AT&T forever
After nearly ten years with AT&T wireless (previously Cingular), I am hitting my head on a wall trying to switch services. We are 2 months away from being able to transfer to a new carrier, however, our daughter is at college and has terribbly spotty service.

When trying to cancel 2 months short of 10 years, I am repeatedly told that I can't just buy out my contract and that if I were to leave now, they'd hit me up for $525 in ETFs - no exceptions. (3 phones on the network.)

I understand that I signed a contract, but I also feel that they should be able to compromise and let me pay the last 2 months on the contract rather than force me into ETFs. I guess 10 years of payments (over $15K) doesn't mean anything to AT&T. You'd think they would treat a long-time customer with some level of decency.

I can't wait until 1/23 so I can be rid of AT&T forever. I only hope Apple realizes how much money they are losing by being tied to such a poor provider.

Look like illegal practices
To my dismay my daughter Susan was leaving for Europe. She had purchased an IPhone two months ago. When she called to inform them that she needed to make sure that she had service abroad..she was told..she didn't have the phone long enough to have automatic service!!! Imagin..you must have it for 90 days before its automatic. If you wanted...you could purchase a plan of 6.00 per month..and save 29 cents per minute. She figured well..not bad..then then proceeded to tell her she needed to fax over a copy of her Passport, driver's license and being she lived home..she needed to send a copy of her parents utility bill. She then said...how can I just make copies of my most valuable information and just fax it randomly to you..where is it going? who will have it? and of course they said..no go..no phone for you then in Europe.. Any suggestions if this is legal? This is insane..I am so angry that I want to put it on the news! thoughts?

They simply do not work to keep their customers happy
I have been an AT&T customer for many years and have just switched to Verizon because I am very unhappy with the customer service at AT&T. They simply do not work to keep their customers happy.

I was billed for their mistake
I purchased a wireless device in April 2009. I have had to send the defaulted device back twice and each time I was billed for their mistake. Each time I was told that the device was under warranty.
