Modem Rebate Scam
AT&T lures people in with offers of modems free after rebate, but they seem to have absolutely no intention of giving back the money. You e-mail their customer service, and they reply saying how eager they are to help you, but offerin no help. Their automated phone system hangs up on you while you are waiting on hold to speak to someone. Their website asks for your account nuber, then says your account does not exist even though it is printed on bills that keep arriving every month. I personally am very happy with my internet service itself, but the dishonest and irresponsible business practices of AT&T will hav me looking for other options when my year is up.

Bad, slow internet-Horrible customer service
Internet speeds and customer service still in the dark ages. Automated customer service lines keep you on hold forever and when you do finally get a human you can not understand them and or they are unable to help you. You can get through however to a new activation sales person who will only sign you up and take your money, which shows they are willing to get your business but after that your on your own.

Horrible Company
I have only been with ATT for less than 4 months and know that I will NEVER use their services ever again. I would have already dropped them but I have to stay for a year. To start with when we got out internet connected, within one week it stopped working. They told me it was a bad modum so they would send me a new one. After another 2 weeks of trying to figure it out, they send a guy over from the company to help. He find out the "new" modum they sent actually didn't work and the original did but the lines were what was wrong. Finally a week later they were finally able to fix that, still keeping me paying for a month of internet that I didn't recieve. Next the problem was my bill. I signed up when they had a special going. However every month they seem to forget this so I am continually overpaying and then being creditied the amount. I feel that if it was their mistake, I shouldn't have to pay the extra amount each month. I end up having to call and deal with their customer service over the phone. That brings me to their customer service. First off, you have to enter or tell someone your phone number on average 7 times for a single problem because nobody can help you so they continually transfer you to another person. And most of the time when they are transferring you, it asks for a 3 digit code. Nobody ever gives you the 3 digit code unless you ask specifically for it before they transfer you but how are you supposed to know to ask?? The last complaint is their online bill pay. Good luck! I have tried the last three months. Because I only have internet through them, they have to send me some code in the mail. When I mean mail, I mean snail mail. Isn't it 2011??? Nobody can give you the number online, over the phone, or even e-mail it to you. I found this out after spending another 45 minutes on the phone with their aweful customer service. So heads up, run the other way from this company. You are better off spending more money than constantly dealing with these incompetent people.

Another incident of not honoring promotional rate
I just wanted to add my experience with AT&T over here on the West Coast in California. I signed up for their promotional $14.95 for the Pro package (Internet only) and they ended up charging me $40 even after the fourth month. Was told by a CSR that for the first couple months, the full cost had to be charged, but then the credit would be given back on the third bill. It was even stated in their terms and conditions posted online!

"Customers purchasing new AT&T High Speed Internet Direct will pay $14.95 per month for 12 months after application of bill credit. First 2 bill credits will appear on same bill within the first 3 bill cycles"

Called customer support and they said that we didn't sign up for the promotion. Well, that's just funny. Then why did I call up customer service and agree to have the internet activated, after I specifically asked if I am eligible for the promotional rate, which both the website and the CSR said I was!?

Will try calling again to sort this out, but if you have any suggestions on how to go about solving this problem relatively painlessly, please let me know.

customer non service
Computer stops working and I cannot get back online..I do the usual unplugging rebooting etc. finally I call tech support. Because the ethernet does not light up he says I need a new yellow cord...and there is an outage in San Diego...I notice when I plug the power into the modem it sparks both when I plug it in and remove it as he instructs me. This worries me. I'm thinking maybe the modem is bad. Just what I need a fire! He looks up the closest At&t store and tells me to go there and get a new yellow cord...I ask if they can check to see if my modem is working...he says yes they can...So I pack up my laptop, modem, service dog, and wheelchair and catch the trolley to the AT&T store. I get there and am told that they can swap it outsince I made the trip and they can't check it out. The girl goes to the back and comes out and says they don't have one they can swap out and a new one will be about $100.00...I don't have that...so I leave ...back on the trolley off at Cricket to buy their wireless modem...but my computer won't accept the download and I have to got to Bum F---- Egypt to their corporate store in a lousey area to get that done...so I go home and like the fool that I am I replug in everthing one more time so I can crab at it and everything works.
J____ F____C_____ what is the world coming to and I never swore until I had to listen to our youth under my window day after day ...god help me! and At&T can go to hell...oh and this was an English speakin g guy at tech support so we can't blame india!
Now I need to go and answer the survey he asked me to fill out about his service. I can't wait. I do have to say the moron was polite!
Hey thanks for listening!
U-verse = FAIL November 11, 2010
not honoring rate
I was offered, and accepted, AT&T internet service for $19.95 month for a year along with the U-verse service at a $25 discount for first six months. First bill had internet at $40 and no $25 discount for U-verse service. I called, AT&T rep said they can apply the $25 credit, but do not offer a $19.95 rate for internet. After reminding her that all calls are supposedly recorded and that I can assure her I was offered that rate, she put my on hold, came back and said agreed that i was offered the rate and that they will honor it. The bill comes in for the 2nd month. No $25 discount for U-verse, internet billed at $40. I call, go through the entire process again, only am told there is nothing they can do about the internet because they do not offer that rate. I tell them I want to cancel my service and am told that even though they do not have to honor the rate promised (she agreed it was in the record I was offered that rate), I have to honor my one year contract. Through MUCH hell raising, they have finally agreed to give me the internet at $25 a month...but I will be canceling as soon as contract is over. And will be vocal about telling others to STAY AWAY FROM ATT U-VERSE!

Speed problem
Hi, I'm using AT&T internet DLS line 3 Mbps speed since one month. But actually my internet speed is very low. When I checked on speedtest.net my internet speed show 1.7 mbps always. It is not even 2 mbps. When I called to AT&T customer care they verified everything on my internet line and they said that since my apartment is far away from the internet server I can not receive 3 mbps speed. Now, I'm paying for 3 mbps speed and I'm not able to receive even 2 mbps. This is ridiculous.

Modem rebate not received
I purchased DSL internet service with AT&T 12/07. I was told that I would receive $50 rebate for the cost of the modem that was initially charged to my bill. I was advised to wait for necessary paperwork and to fill it out with info and send in. As of March 2008 I had not received paperwork. Talked to customer service who advised I had to speak with the rewards center. Rewards center advised that it wasnt necessary to provide all the equipment details, just the form and he would expidite form. Also that if I went to their website I could check status of rebate.I did finally receive the form, completed and mailed in. On their website, there were two options for rebate, one was Visa checkcard $50, the other a modem rebate for $49.99.Status on website stated that arrival time was estimated to be 5/11/08 for a modem rebate of $49.99. I was told $50. After not receiving the rebate I called rewards center and the rep advised they had trouble verifying I had internet service, but a force through would be requested without having to verify the service. I asked why the amount was now $49.99 vs. $50. I was confused about what I was suppose to receive. Fed up, I asked who I should file complaint with. I was told customer service. Talked to Sheila in customer service in Chicago. She did a threeway conference with rewards center. I was placed on hold. I then spoke to Shiela again who apologized...she advised that I will definately receive my rebate, but it would take another 4-6 weeks. What about the other 5 months of time I have waited? I told her I was very unhappy with this rebate process and service. She put me on hold again, she came back on the line and advised that her Manager, Christian in the Chicago office authorized a 2nd rebate of $50. I clarified that this 2nd one was for my bad experience. She said it was. She gave me the website address of att.com
ewardscenter to check in 21 days to get the second rebate offerred for my trouble. At this point this is where the rebate stands...I am not sure I will get either of the two rebates so I am posting this complaint and keeping track. I will give 6 more weeks and if I am not satisified I will file with the Attoreny Generals Office.

Not recieving my rebates
It has been over two months and I still have not recieved any thing in the mail about my rebates. Each time i call a representive tell me they have mailed it or it was returned. When i asked them about the address, it was correct. So why was it returned. Game playing. I am so dissapointed with the service. I wish i would have stayed with Mci. Had i know this i would have never gotten this service. I feel like i was just lied to for them to get my service. Very dissapointed and is thinking about switching back to mci. Even when you try to retrieve it on line it is hell doing so. Please help me.

Gyrating pop-ups 999,999th winner
Completely bogus, highly annoying, can't-get-rid-of: "You're
the 999, 999th winner." You push the delete red X, it just comes
back (free will?). Annoying, obvious scam -- allowed by and
perpetuated on AT&T Yahoo!

Also, your unannounced rate increases ... Maybe to cover what
you are being sued for?
