Left my things in my parking garage
The company I am complaining against is ABM Van Lines, but according to their MC and DOT numbers, they go by the name, "ASAP Relocations. "
My online quote was for $305.00 because I was getting a 5% discount; without the discount, it was going to be $320, which was 4 hours of work for $80.00/hour. I told the sales rep, "P" (Don't want to use their real names) that I needed my dishes, small appliances (i.e., toaster, griddle, etc), and pots and pans packed because I did not have the necessary packing supplies. I listed my furniture for "P" - queen size bed, couch, entertainment unit, TV, 2 stools, 4 side tables, desk, and approximately 15 bins. I asked "P" repeatedly if it was extra to pack my dishes, and she said it was not because the movers go by amount of time. She also told me that shrink wrap, bubble wrap, moving pads, and packing tape were included in the price.
She also told me that Double Drive Time would not apply because my move was only 3.69 miles in total.
I asked "P" for an "overestimate" - if the move would realistically cost more than $305; she said it shouldn't. Regardless, I was prepared to pay around $500.00 for any additional charges.
On the day of the move, the movers showed up on time. After going through the contract and finding out that the mover "required" the use of additional boxes (which ended up costing over $100.00), he wanted me to set my Not to Exceed Limit as $800.00. He also wanted to charge me Double Drive Time. I told him that the move really should not take 7 hours, as he estimated, and that his office told me Double Drive Time would not apply for my move. In a false attempt to negotiate with me, he said, "I won't charge you for tape." I replied, "You're already not charging me for tape because it's included in my contract."
We finally decided on a Not to Exceed of $600.00, and they started moving my things at 9am. I called his office to inquire about the Double Drive Time, and he aggressively approached me while I was on the phone with them and expressed his anger than I called his office. After I was off the phone, he told me he wouldn't charge me for Double Drive Time.
ABM also claimed that their movers are "well-trained" but the foreman had to explain taping and packing procedures to his partner repeatedly.
After approximately 5 hours of inefficient packing, the foreman told me that they were going to run out of time. He said if this happened, they would put all my things in storage. I felt trapped and hesitantly asked to set my Not to Exceed Limit at $800.00, which is what he originally wanted.
After 6 hours, my 1 bedroom apartment was finally packed up and ready to go to my new apartment.
After arriving at my new apartment, the mover asked for the $800.00 up front. I wanted to think about it, and he brushed me off, saying he didn't mean to be cruel but said they were on a time limit and didn't have time to discuss it. I asked if I could pay it on credit card because I didn't have enough cash. He said no. I paid $400 in cash and $400 on my credit card, and I asked him to indicate on the contract that none of the cash was to be his tip. He told me they don't indicate it on their contract.
After 2 hours of slowly moving my boxes and several small furniture items into my new apartment, the mover told me they were going to run out of time again, and they needed me to sign a new contract for a Not to Exceed Limit of $1000.00. I asked to speak to his manager. His manager was surprised that they had been moving my 1 bedroom apartment for 8 hours and were not finished. I then spoke to the dispatcher, who told me that his men would not work for free, and that I had to sign the new contract. I said no. The movers then left all my belongings in the parking garage of my new building. They removed all their moving pads, and emptied the wardrobe boxes (which were free) full of my clothes and other things all over my bins and furniture in the parking garage. SEE PHOTOS.
I asked the mover for the first contract I signed for $600.00, and he said no. I said that my signature is on it, and I am entitled to a copy. He still refused. I asked him for the names of the people I had spoken to on the phone, but he claimed that he couldn't remember their names.
In the end, I had to get my apartment's maintenance man and 2 of his mover friends to help me move the great majority of my belongings into my apartment, which only took 2 hours.

Happy Customer
I am one happy customer. ASAP moved me from Los Gatos to San Jose and they made my moving stress-free. All i had to do was provide them with the informations they needed to provide me with an estimate and the rest they did. I did have to do my own packing other than that the rest of the labor was theirs. Truly amazed by how the the crew worked together. They were very strong and fast workers. I didnt have a single thing damaged because they took great responsibility of my valuables.

Right Choice for Moving
I have moved several times and every time i move i would use ASAP's services. They have been pleasant all the time i would call for their services. They reach out to my needs and accomodate me in every step. The people in the office who i have consistently been dealing with are very friendly and truly honest people. And the crew who comes out to do the move are very professional and works hard at what they do. I have never had a time where i was put in a position where i had no choice. Everytime i had a concern the dispatch personel hadalways assisted me. Im not one who reviews everything but since ASAP has been genuine to me i feel that this is the least i can do in return for their great service.

Excellent Service
I recently had my move done by ASAP Relocations not too long. I was very satisfied with the outcome of the entire process; from the scheduling of the move to the actual move itself, everything had gone smoothly.
The representative i spoke with during the booking process was very informative and had answers to all of my questions. Once i had provided her with the information’s she needed, she went ahead and gave me a quote of 4 men @ $105 with an estimate of 3-5hrs for a fully furnished 3 bedroom house. No one came close to the quote i had gotten from the three other moving companies i had called earlier that day. So i went and booked the move with them.
She had advised me to make sure that everything that i owned was properly packed. Because the quote that i was given was based on just moving my things out of the house and into the new place. She also informed me that for any glass item, it would need added protection for it is a very fragile item.
And after one week of packing and cleaning, the movers came to take over. The morning of the move the driver had called me to inform me that they were 15 minutes away. Right when they came, the forman in charge of the move talked to me and showed me what I needed to sign. He was very friendly and explained to me what it was that I was signing. And like the lady I spoke with from the office, he had answers to all the questions I had.
After 10 minutes of discussion the movers went ahead and started loading the truck. I had some items that I wasn’t done packing and one of the crew was courteous enough to help me finish packing. I also had three tv’s and a two glass table tops that I knew I was going to need protection. I had extra boxes and tapes in case I would need it but I knew for the much fragile items they would use special materials to pack it. Right before the forman packed my fragile items he explained to me first what and how he was going to pack those items. I was concerned how much it would cost me, he gave me a rough estimate since he won’t know how much materials he’ll end up using.
From the moment I booked with ASAP I informed the rep that I was going on a tight budget and that I needed an estimate that was right around what the final bill will be. And I told the forman again right when they came here. The forman made feel rest assured that it won’t exceed my budget.
After they were done loading the truck we headed off to my new place. Once we arrived the forman did not waste anytime and went to work right away. It took the crew 3hrs to load my things because I did have several items that wasn’t packed and only 1hr 30min to unload. All in all I stayed within the estimate I was quoted and is a VERY SATISFIED customer.
The crew did a terrific job with my move. They were friendly, courteous and professional at the same time. They went beyond the expectations I had of them. I highly recommend ASAP for any kind of moves, they are professionals when it comes to moving.

Moving woes
I moved from Daly City CA to Piqua OH and found this company's use of packing materials to be extravagant and wasteful. Almost all of the furniture, big or little, was wrapped in parts of cardboard boxes, all of which were an extra charge. I had at least 30 partial rolls of tape left when the packers left. Although I thought I made it clear to the supervisor on the job site that I wanted to make sure I had paid for at least half of the job before he left as I was not going to have transportation the next day to get a postal money order to send to the company if I had not paid for half I still received a phone call that I owed twice what I had already paid and could I please get that to them overnight express so they could load my furnishings onto the larger truck which would be bringing them to Ohio. Needless to say, I couldn't get this accomplished since they only called one of the four phone numbers I had given them and I didn't get the message until the banks and post office were closed. Oh, and I haven't seen my furniture or belongings yet even though it is August 9 and it was picked up on July 30 with a ready to receive date of August 1. I not only haven't seen my things, I haven't heard from the company. I can hardly wait to see what they will charge me when they get here!
I'm sorry I hadn't done more research on this company before I hired them to do this job. Hopefully others will be better prepared than I was and won't hire this company in the first place.

Do research before hiring these scammers!
Beware of ASAP Relocations. Prior to my issue, in the last 36 months, they had 95 complaints from the BBB.
I was the 96th. And they have another already.
On 9/25/06, I received an email from [email protected], Confirmation Number 26642, to use ASAP Relocation services to move on 10/7/06. I spoke to Brian on the telephone on 9/28/06 described the move, Brian estimated the cost to be about $750. In a confirmation email Brian states
"We have placed your reservation for a local move from Fair Oaks, CA 95628 to Roseville, CA 95661 on 10/7/2006.
We will provide you with a crew of 3 professional movers and a fully-loaded moving truck at $105/hr for a minimum of 4 hours plus double drive time. We are prepared to meet or beat any better offer made by a fully licensed, bonded and insured moving company.
This price includes:
* Loading and unloading
* Disassembling and reassembling of your furniture
Of course they were late. We told the movers that we had all packing supplies we needed, but when the movers ran out of blankets they used cardboard to wrap the refrigerator, washer and dryer, and then charged us. The movers also charged over $600 for "unpacking", in addition to the hourly rate. The total cost was over $1,900. When I stated I disagreed, the mover told me to call the dispatcher, whom then told me to call the salesperson, whom of course was not available. The mover told me that if I would not pay the extra charges, they would take my furniture back to their warehouse and I would be charged for storage and the extra time for loading, unloading and travel.
Surfing the web you will find other stories about them, ALL Bad. I should have done my research before hiring these scammers.
