Misleading information on website
Airtel CallHome website says you can call India for 1.6c a minute, what they do not tell you is it is applicable only if you use their local access number and not the toll free number (for which it is 3c per minute). I signed up for Airtel CallHome once some 2years before and had to leave because of bad service, now when I returned I am faced with a "hidden truth". I called up the customer care and an agent named Pavan answered my call. I was told bluntly that this point is mentioned in their FAQs and that I should have read it before I signed up. There was no such hint while signing up, nor was there any place to search for local access numbers while signing up, but you would see their toll free number on all the pages while signing up.

Hope others looking for international calling cards don't fall for this bait

Took $20 from my account
Airtel is great except their customer service sucks. They sound really nice while talking for minor issues such as forgot password but as soon you have a big issue they will suck life out of you and forget about the help. I lost $20 due to several calls showed up in my bill made from a number which does not exist ( if you dial the number it say this number does not exist.) and interestingly they say that is my number and I have made the calls. I tried to take this issue with airtel call home 30 times for three month before they said that they don't have access to the complaints older than 3 months. They sounded like a fool whom i was trying to explain, every time I called, same thing again and again and they were giving me same answer " We have forwarded your concern to our concerned department and it will be resolved within 24 Hrs' and after 1 day i will receive an email saying " we have investigated the issue and have not found any discrepancy in the call charges. All the calls are made by me". How can I make calls from some number which does not exist. They never let me talk to their supervisor ( I asked for a supervisor at least 15 times) ad when asked for him, same reply every time.."Our supervisor is busy right now. Please call after 6 hours to talk to him". They never resolved the issue and I lost $20 from my account. The funniest line which they never forgot to say or write is.."We are here to help".

Repeated unsolicited calls
Got several dozens (may be few hundreds) of unsolicited calls from Airtel CallHome, despite my number being in the do-not-call list. They have no regard to the rules here in US. Everytime they call, I tell them to take my # off from the list. They say yes, but their sales calls keep calling. Complained to FTC and the State attorney general. I wish these agencies do not just fine these company executives, but actually put them behind bars.

not working
somebody called from airtel and requested me to register in airtel to call india.i did so.for the last two weeks i am trying to call i couldnt, i am complaining but no use, i couldnt login to my account.it is too bad.i will never use airtel in future or recomment nobody to use it.i am using reliance for the last two years, till now not even a little problem.

Airtel and IBM A big fraud
Hi, I have got Information for all the NRI's who r using airtel.. The Airtel CallHome service is being provided by IBM in india. IBM is the key company to outsource airtel and the services provided by such a big company like IBM sucks...So We need to question IBM ans together we can go ahead and SUE it so that all the harassment caused to us should come to an end ...so all fellow Indian Americans lets put an end to it and lets take a vow not to deal with such a company. Here are the following list of some of the managers with whom i had a word and with lot of research i got their numbers 96760122866, 9810120216 cal these suckers and tell them the problems.

Airtel CallHome: service now okay!
I had posted here at ComplaintsBoard earlier about Airtel CallHome's slow website and poor customer service.

This is just to make a correction: The site and service have been working fine since the last month and I'm satisfied now. I'm sure I wouldn't get anything cheaper available online.

Slight delay in receiving account details, good service though
I signed up for Airtel CallHome and had a bit of trouble receiving my account details. It took me one hours' wait to receive my details.

After that, it has been very sweet experience. I got excellent voice quality and I'm sure in the long term I'll save a lot of money as the service is considerably cheaper. Also there are some great offers which the rival provider is not providing.

Just boost up your infrastructure guys, and I'm sure you'll rock!

Something fishy about the reviews!
Hi, I signed up for Airtel CallHome quite a while ago and I'm quite satisfied with their services. I think the website is quite pretty and attractive.

After signing up for it, I had no problems in getting my Account Details and I was able to use the service right away. The voice clarity has been great so far, and much better than that of my previous provider.

Overall, the user experience has been smooth sailing for me, with no major problems. Reliance definitely has some tough competition on its hands.

Why I'm writing this complaint is to alert other users of this board to take Complaints about AirtelCallhome with a pinch of salt.

The way this website is being abused to post negative reviews about AirtelCallhome is quite shocking. At first I thought the reviews were genuine - maybe somebody else was experiencing problems even if I wasn't. But then I started getting suspicious.

To me, it looks like a dedicated effort by a competitor to defame them. How else would you explain one negative review on Airtel Callhome *every couple of hours*???

Airtel is a very strong brand in India with a reputation for playing clean, and it definitely hasn't been in business for ripping people off.

Once again, be warned. Take all the stuff with a pinch of salt.

AirTel really sucks!
I signed up for Airtel this morning ($50 initial charge) and have been totally frustrated so far.
Having used a similar service from Reliance ever since they started it quite some time back with a high degree of satisfaction, I decided to try out Airtel due to your lower rate and promotional offer.
However, I am encountering problems at every turn as described below:
1. At registration, I got an error saying that the numbers I had given could not be registered. I have tried to register them online more than a dozen times already with no luck (keep getting error messages).
2. I have called the customer service number more than 20 times but have got a busy signal each time.
3. I have also tried to dial the access number more than 20 times but keep getting "all circuits are busy' signal.

Right now, I'm at a loss about what to do and how to proceed.

I noticed some people have had a positive experience and are saying that-ve feedback is from competitors. But believe me, competitors such as Reliance have nothing to worry about as long as this is what Airtel has to offer. We have been using Reliance ever since it stated and could not be happier...it was just the low rate (7.9c plus double talk time) that got me to sign up for airtel, a decision I am already regretting.

Web site is slow but Voice is great!
The site is very slow. Call center is not accessible. But the voice is great. I had to wait for the account details to reach me but the as the saying goes all is well ends well. Good competition to Reliance. We benefit anyway!!!
