I was very eager to have this company move me. For starters after the 1st scheduled moving company, New world movers, stood me up, this company agreed to come out the same day. I got a quote from Adam (same name as the owner of new world, I should have known better) of 90 per hr for 3hrs min + 3 men + truck + no charge for stairs + disassembly and reassembly, etc. Arrival time 2 - 3pm. 3:15pm no movers. I called and talked to Frank who said Adam was gone for the day. He informed me that his movers were running a little behind on their first move but they would be there. I said ok. Approximately 5:19pm no phone call, no movers. I called back and spoke to Frank who again gave me the same reason and said he would call the drivers to check their progress. I wasn't real aggressive because after all they did agree to move me the same day. So I was patient and understanding. The most I wanted was a phone call so I wouldn't be sitting in a dead house all day, phone, cable box, stereos, already packed up. Around 6:45pm I had still not heard from them and decided to call again. I spoke to Frank and requested to cancel the appt. because no one was calling me back and the day was frustrating from being stood up by the first company and had wasted a whole day waiting to be moved. He then said he could have someone there first am sunday morning 9/28/08. I agreed and he set time of 8am - 9am. Sunday morning the movers showed up at approximately 9:09am. The man came upstairs to view my property and asked some information, where stuff was going, etc. He then proceeded to tell me that is was $75 extra for each location for second floor, packing materials were extra (my stuff was already packed, he meant for furniture pads that they reuse on other customers, plus extra fee for removal and re-installation of plasma TV. I told him what I was quoted and that Adam spoke to Eric (Manager?) to confirm no charge on 2nd floor (stairs) and no charge for TV. I heard this with my own ears. All together I told him to tell me how much this would cost. As he was calculating he asked how I would be paying for this and I told him cash but depending on the price I might not move with them. He then said 530.00 which was almost double what I had originally been quoted. I told him no thank you. I was moving a one bedroom apt. Half the apartment was already moved because I was stood up the prior day and needed to move some stuff to sleep in the new house. This company is a rip off. I don't know if it is the company or the movers trying to scam some extra cash at the move. But do not trust these guys. Best advice, get actual quote in writing while they are at the house so they know what they are quoting and you know what you are getting.

A Best Choice Movers is a classic mover's scam. They come in, look around your home, and quote a "guaranteed" price. Then, when it comes time for the move, they charge anywhere from $500 to several thousand more. DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS. When I complained, I was told "We'll take all your possessions and pawn them if you don't agree to the new price." Yes, they really said that.

These are horrible people and if you use them they will rip you off. Avoid them like the plague.

On 1/5/2008 I submitted a complaint to complaintsborad.com involving A Best Choice Movers. I am hereby notifying this web site that A Best Choice movers has addressed the issue with me and issued a credit to my credit card. I am happy with there follow up effort as they did whatever they could to make this situation "right".
