I purchased this metal baby gate (specifically designed for top-of-the-stair use) and within 3 months, my 15-month-old was able to break a welded metal bar out of the gate. The hole it left was large enough that she could have fallen through down the stairs. It also posed a threat in that the jagged metal edge jutted outward at eye level and could have caused injury. In 2003 we renovated our home and had to have alarm installed in order to get home insurance. I chose ADT due to their supposedly great service and reputation.
