No Money Recovered From Thrifty SC Auto Rent Srl Otopeni Bucharest
It will soon be one year in May 2012 since we were scammed of 812.74 dollars by Dollar Thrifty Sc Autorent Srl Otopeni, Bucharest, Romania, and all our efforts to recover the money stolen from us by Sc Autorent Srl Otopeni have been without success.
The problem is that Sc Autorent Srl Otopeni is an independent franchise, loosely affiliated to the American Dollar Thrifty, and Dragos Vlad, the CEO and owner of the Romanian rental car company is free to do whatever he wants. We will not get our stolen money back from Dragos Vlad, the company’s CEO or from Mirela Vlad, his wife and the company manager.
In the meantime we have learned – heard and read – about another customers scammed by Dollar Thrifty Sc Autorent Srl Otopeni. They have also been charged from services not provided, overcharged for services provided, and scammed again and again with the notorious “rear bumper scratch” for various sums that doubled the cost of a car rental from Dollar Thrifty Sc Autorent Srl Otopeni Bucharest.
Do not rent cars from the company!

Our 2011 vacation to Romania turned into our worst nightmare when we made the terrible mistake to rent a car from Dollar Thrifty Sc Autorent Srl Otopeni, Bucharest and fell victims to their business frauds out of which the most notorious is the “rear bumper scratch” scam. For a 12 day car rental that should have cost us 601.20 dollars we paid 1,413.94 dollars. Total fraudulent charges were 812.74 dollars out of which 99.76 dollars for their insurance – which we declined, 28.71 dollars for out of hours rental during their regular business hours, and the huge one – 684.27 dollars – for the “rear bumper scratch”scam.
Our case is not unique. About ten more customers have been defrauded during 2011 by Dollar Thrifty Sc Autorent Srl Otopeni, Bucharest, Romania. The main fraud this car franchise is using to rip off its customers is the "rear bumper scratch" scam. Watch out!

Stole our our deposit
Recently we visited Romania for one week and rented a car at Otopeni airport at Thrifty Car Rental Romania/ Auto Rent SRL.
10 days after returning home we discovered that they had charged our credit card the deposit of 320 euro.
We contacted them immediately, to ask why they had done so since we returned the car with NO damage whatsoever. But they just claimed the car was damaged and refused to return our money.
A search on the net found several complaints about this company from other customers that had been cheated like us.
This company is very dishonest. Do not ever rent a car from them!!!

Over charged the cancellation fee
Recently we cancelled our trip to Romania due to the volcanic ash. As a consequence, we had to cancel our car rental with Thrifty Car Rental Romania/ Auto Rent SRL, as well. They charged our credit card three times the cancellation fee, and did not respond to our e-mails asking for an explanation.We contacted our bank and now they are disputing the amount. Very very bad company!!! Don't use!!!
