Timeshare Fraud
My husband and I purchased 2 weeks of 2-bdrm. triple lock-off at the Playa Del Sol (or PDS) Grand, Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico, on Aug. 21, 2006 for a total amount of $51, 300. The amount paid at purchase was $23, 629.50. The following day, we tried to cancel our purchase and were told that we would lose all of the money we paid out thus far. Fearing the consequences, we decided to give the resort a chance. We paid off the balance on Sept. 25, 2006. We have run into nothing but problems ever since our purchase. We have not been able to book our weeks when we wanted to travel even though our purchase was paid in full. I was faced with roadblocks every time I requested a week at our resort. After threatening to bring in my attorneys, they finally "worked" with me on placing us in one of their resorts, not the one we actually purchased, PDS Costa Sur in Puerto Vallarta. Costa Sur was not at all comparable to the Grand, it was barely inhabitable with mold growing on all of the walls in our room. We complained and were moved to another room which was only a slight improvement. After complaining and requesting to be moved to the Grand, they eventually granted us a room at PDS Grand for the remainder of our stay. We faced a lot of resistance in trying to exercise our rights. We have now found out that the Rental Program, which would have allowed us to give back our weeks to the Resort for an equivalent of 1 to 1.5 times our maintenance fees, has been discontinued in 2007. No notice or acknowledgement was given even though this Program was included in our Contract. Their Customer Service department in Santa Rosa, California, is staffed with the rudest, most unhelpful, unwilling to provide any information or work with any requests that we may have. Their standard answer is always the same, everything is always booked, there is never any availability in the time and the type of rooms we own. Names of people we have dealth with this company include Eric Hompe, the salesperson, Jan Thomson, Michelle Doyle, Director of Member Services in 2007, whom no one at the call center seems to know, Brad (last name undisclosed by him) at the call center who could not give any names or information on how to remedy our issues. It seems that we have been dealing with a phantom company. Please help us get the word out. This is a horrible company practicing fraudulent activities and they must be stopped.
